Weight Is Off
As of tomorrow, February 14th, My 10 pound lifting restriction will ended.
If things continue to go well, I will no longer need help with grocery shopping, laundry, and other physical tasks. I also anticipate becoming more mobile, so I can leave the house more easily to meet my social needs.
I've been walking more, and two miles is about the furthest I have gone. On Sunday, I attempted to walk three miles but couldn't make it — my incision pain increased during the walk. It's a slow path to be able to walk a long distance and exercise vigorously. I hope to attempt bicycling pretty soon.
My dietary challenges have settled down. I just have a large appetite, but nothing that is distressing.
Last week, my incision pain increased for a couple of days. That surprised me. It had been going down consistently since the surgery, so I was disappointed to see it increase. It wasn't severe.
At some point down the line, I hope to host a post-kidney donation surgery party where I will thank you for your support through this incredible journey. We can mourn my loss of innocence, celebrate the struggle, and perhaps dream of more ridiculous generosity challenges to consider (and I’ll accept suggestions right now, but don’t tell my mom :).
I plan on posting again, but perhaps not for awhile. If I don't have much more to say about my health, I'll write about my reflections about the donation, what this all means, and how I feel about it.
